FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? Good. Here are the ones we hear most — answered honestly, with zero corporate fluff.
About the Products
Is that real glass?
Nope. It's resin — a liquid polymer that cures into a hard, glossy finish. It looks like glass, feels like glass, and is way more durable than glass. You're welcome.
Can I set a hot drink on a resin coaster?
Your morning coffee? No problem. A mug straight off a boiling stove or a scorching cast iron pan? Let's not. Resin handles everyday warm drinks just fine, but prolonged high heat can cause warping or cloudiness over time. Treat it like you would a nice piece of wood — with a little common sense and it'll last forever.
What are those tiny bubbles?
Bob Ross said there are no mistakes, only happy little accidents. We say there are no defects, only happy little bubbles. We torch each piece to minimize them, but resin is a living material while it cures — sometimes a micro-bubble or two makes it through anyway. That's not a flaw. That's proof a human poured this, not a machine.
How long does resin take to cure?
Most pieces are fully cured within 24–72 hours after pouring. Custom and made-to-order pieces ship once fully cured and inspected — we don't rush it.
Is it food safe?
Once fully cured, our resin is non-toxic — but we don't recommend using resin pieces as direct food contact surfaces (plates, cutting boards, etc.). Coasters, trays, and decorative pieces? Absolutely fine.
Why does it cost more than the big box store version?
Because it's not the big box store version. Every piece is poured by hand, one at a time, in Atlanta, GA. You're paying for craft, intention, and something that actually won't look like everyone else's.
Can I use resin pieces outdoors?
Short-term, yes. Long-term UV exposure will yellow most resins over time. We recommend keeping pieces out of direct sunlight for extended periods to preserve color and clarity.
Custom & Made-to-Order
The Iron Rule — what's that?
All custom orders require a 50% non-refundable deposit before work begins. No exceptions. This covers materials and time — once we start pouring for you, that pour is yours. The remaining balance is due before shipping.
Can I request specific colors or pigments?
Yes — that's the whole point of custom work. Reach out via the Custom Work page with your vision and we'll talk through what's possible. Some specialty pigments may affect pricing.
What about preserved specimens in resin?
We work with preserved specimens (flowers, botanicals, etc.) on a case-by-case basis. Proper preservation is critical — improperly dried materials can cause resin to yellow or not cure correctly. If you're supplying your own specimens, they must be fully dried and preserved before we can use them.
Shipping & Orders
How long does shipping take?
In-stock items ship within 3–5 business days. Made-to-order and custom pieces ship once fully cured and inspected — lead times vary by piece complexity. You'll get a heads-up when yours is on the way.
Do you ship internationally?
We're working on it. Right now we primarily ship domestic (US). Reach out if you're international — we'll see what we can do.
